Okay, so I know that when I first started this thread, I was really into Hilary Clinton winning the presidency, but I think that I'm convinced that I really wouldn't want her in that position. I've been learning about politics in my U.S. History class, and we've been talking about how she had lies whenever she sees fit, and uses anything she can to try and bring Obama down. . . We also talked about a lot of other stuff like Obama's infamous "Small Town" comment, which got squashed in like a day. I come from a pretty small town ( I guess) and we didn't care that he made that comment (If you don't know it you should look it up. A lot of people were talking about it, but I don't really see why, if someone could explain that to me, I'd be much appreciated). And then I went and read the posts made, and Lon-Dubh made some really good points. From the big companies buying her out, to the investments she made, just pushed it over the top for me. . . I would rather have someone who didn't stand for the flag, than a liar in our presidency. . . Plus, just because he didn't stand for the national anthem doesn't mean he doesn't respect the country, he still says (and sometimes leads) the Pledge of Allegiance which does show some respect for our country.
If I were old enough to vote, I'd be voting for Obama. . .

Honestly I think we need a president that cares about our country. Bush doesn't care. There are so many people dying, homeless and starving and what happens? All of our money is sent to other countries from disasters. Yes it is awful and they need help, but its very stupid that someone would let their own people die. Also we are 3 billion dollars in debt. The country we are in debt with is thinking about starting a war soon! Then we have schools that let their childern fail, unemplayed people living off welfare because they are too lazy to work and the law system is sooooooo retarted! Okay a murder can now go on trial and GET OFF and goes back into the world....people can be drunk or high 24/7 and no one cares because maybe their brother is a cop! I think America isn't the best country in the world as it seems...

Well almost everyone will agree with the fact that America isn't what is seems, but what is these days? But the fact is, living here is still better than living in other countries where there is no help from the goverment, or where a 11 year old is the soul provider for his younger brothers and sisters. . . Things are bad, and that is why we need a new president, But who? I'm going for Obama, Hilary should just drop out now. . . She isn't helping her party and there is like no way she can win now. . .

I think that if I had to chose between one of the three candidates that there are now... I would go for John McCain. Just because he has experiance, he's a war veteran, and he's been in the senate for years. The only thing that worries me about him is that he's 71 years old. As for Clinton and Obama, I think that neither of them are fit to run this country. I think that both of them would fail, and that Hilary would lie to all of us. Obama... I saw him fit at the beginning of the Primaries, but then he lied to everyone about his Uncle being in WWII and invading a concentration camp... though he has not one Uncle.

Actually, if you read the follow-up story on what Obama said, he didn't "lie." His great uncle, whom he referred to as an uncle becuase of family habit, did help liberate a camp. The following is a piece of the New York Times concerning this:
"The correct story is that Mr. Obama’s great uncle, Charlie Payne – his grandmother’s brother – actually helped liberate Ohrdruf, a sub-camp of Buchenwald. Mr. Payne was a member of the 89th Infantry Division."
So no, Obama did not lie. He called Charlie Payne his uncle because it was a family habit to call him uncle, not "great uncle." The press and some rival politicians' supporters took the remark and distorted it as a viscious lie.
The real story is they were running low on things to insult Obama with, so they grabbed a detail and blew it wildly out of proportion. Barack Obama certainly never lied to an investigation committee from the Whitehouse like one of the candidates.
