Well I was just wondering what everyone was thinking about the upcoming Presidential election. It's our current subject in my History class, so I was just wondering who would you vote for?

I personally am leaning toward Hilary, even though I think Cookie Monster was a really tempting choice. . .
I think that Hilary would make a great president because of what she says she plans on changing. . . She wants to give everyone Health Care, and we all know that there are a ton of people who need Health Care, but simply can't afford it. . . She also wants to make it where colleges cant raise tuition prices on current students. . . It isn't uncommon for a college to raise your tuition during your Junior year, sometimes even as a Sophomore.
I also would vote for Hilary because, I personally think that her husband was an okay President. . . Under him our National Debt wasn't rising and actually close to going down. . . Also I believe that the main reason that people would classify him as a bad President is because of something that happened in his "PERSONAL" life which shouldn't have affected his career.
Then again, this is only my view. Feel free to disagree with me, but I'm just curious to what everyone else thinks. . ,

If I were old enough to vote, I would be voting for Clinton. I've heard that Obama would indeed be a good choice, and a lot of people want him to win, but I'm going to be a college student the year after next, so and I think that Clinton would be a great person to vote for.
I also agree with you about her husband. It shouldn't have affected his career to the extent where he quit his term. I think he was a good President, but some are seeing his actions as a negative on her part. They see what he has done and see how it could possibly affect Hilary. But what people don't see is that Obama has his share of indecencies as well. He has a past with "Cocaine", or so I've heard, but nobody takes that into account.

Last I heard. . . Obama is in the lead for the Democratic Party, but Hilary is only a little bit behind. . . Huckaby (or whatever his name is) is the leading man for the Republicans. . . Don't know much else about him. . .

Yeah that's what I heard too. . . Obama is in the lead, and while I do think that Hilary will make the best president, I think that Obama might be pretty good as well. Either way I'm pretty sure that the lead for the "Democratic" party is going to be our next president, whether that be Hilary or Obama.

Obama or Clinton, I think, would both be great presidents. To me, Obama is more inspiration than Clinton. I also think, Clinton seems like she really wants to get things done.
I would be fine with anybody from the Democratic party to become president, they both seem like good candidates.
What do you think of the other guy, Republic, Morman. I really hope I don't offend anybody, but today, I was listening on the radio and many people didn't like him BECAUSE he was Morman. I thought that was odd, no particular feelings, but what about you?
If anybody is Morman, I'm terribly sorry if this offends you.

I personally think that Barack Obama should be our next President. I first handedly saw him right outside of my school delivering a speech. He is more inspirational than Hilary.
Another reason why I think that Obama should be our President is because he speaks the truth. I don't mean to say that Hilary is a complete liar. But if you come to learn the facts about immigration, in New York, she wanted all immigrants to be given driver's licenses and also permits. Now she is mentioning about them being held resposible to the economic problems here in the U.S.
Also, about her Health Care Plan, when she says Universal, I don't quite think that everybody understand on what she is saying. Yes, Health Care is a good thing, but what about the cost? What if people can't afford it? She has mentioned it, but not the cost yet. She should mention it, because I believe that it does concern many Americans.
Not that I hate her or anything, but I strongly believe that the only reason why people are voting for her is because they think that Bill Clinton will be in charge once again. I only have one thing to say about that: GET OVER IT PEOPLE! Move on! He is not going to be our President again, unfortunately.
I am sorry that this post has offended anyone, but again, these are just by beliefs, and there is freedom of speech right?
In a way, this year's election will be historical because we just might have an African American in the White House, or our First Female President!
Sadly I must say that this won't count as a vote. I am yet still under 18, which sucks, but that is just how it goes . . . .
Anyways, sorry for sounding like such a lunatic.

No I don't think that anyone' s post would offend anyone, I mean this is really what I wanted to hear when I started this thread. . . I do see what you are saying about how Obama would indeed be a good president and I don't think that you sound like a lunatic. . . I knew that a lot of people would be voting for Obama and I totally respect that. I know that Obama is more inspirational than Clinton, I just feel that she is more straight forward and knows what she wants done. I didn't mean to sound like I was against Obama if that is what everyone was thinking, I do believe that either would make a good president, I'm just leaning towards Clinton.
About the Republican candidate. . . I personally don't understand why people would not like him because of his religion. In 1960 Pres. John F. Kennedy proved that religion has no influence on a person's qualifications on being President. . .didn't he? This personally is a topic I really don't understand, but it is interesting to see what other people might think. I think that it is really interesting because "religion" still has a key role in our government. . .

lol, a pretty acknowledged republican strategy is that republicans want obama to do win the nominations, b/c they're really threatened of clinton, and they know that obama won't throw much of a threat (in louisiana last year, for instance, black kids were bullied into sitting at the back of the bus--basically saying racism is rly so much higher than most ppl think it is)
I don't think Obama really has a chance of winning, though Clinton definitely does.

Umm. . . Currently Obama is in the lead, even though Clinton isn't that far behind. I'm still behind Clinton, but Obama has done many already made history and it's not only for being the first African-American that has run for the American Presidency.
Many people still believe that America isn't ready for a black president, but I don't see why? I mean if you look into Obama's history he has accomplished so much! He was the first African-American President of the Harvard Law Review, he is the 3rd African-American since Reconstruction to be elected to the U.S. Senate, and he has served on the Illinois senate for eight years. . .What is it that would make him in anyway incapable of being a good president?
Wow, by the sounds of that, it would seem like I want Obama to be our next President. . . I'm not sure anymore, I still support Clinton, but it seems like I'm more on the line. Still voting for the Democratic party. . .or at least rooting for them. lol!
Okay I realized that when I posted the top choices, I didn't include the three Republican candidates. . . They are; Mitt Romney, John McCain, and Mike Huckabee. . . Sorry about that!

If I were 18 I would choose Barack Obama. . . He has done so many amazing things in his life, and plus he's inspirational. . . He seems like a person that I could really look up to and depend on. I think that he would make an AWESOME President.
Clinton isn't a bad choice either. . .And then I don't know much about the Republican candidates, so this where I leave. . .

Frankly, Obama stuck his foot in when he voted pro the wall between the United States and Mexico. That ruined him for me. He's spoken a lot about his past, his race, the problems faced and then prejudices another minority group? It's beyond wrong.
He's also not the first to run presidency. A reverend in the 80s, I believe, beat him to that record.
Hilary's universal plan is relatively cost-free. She wants to socialize the health care system, much like the post office is socialized so it's run by the government. This makes it so that there are no competing health care systems so the prices can plunge. It's a brilliant idea. The cost to run it would be paid by taxes just like with the post office and various others socialized programs in teh United States. A good health care and low-cost medicine is everyone's right, not just for the ones able to afford expensive yet good health care systems.

Well I was watching the news yesterday and it seems that Hilary has won both Ohio and Rhode Island. . . The ties are really close though.
Also, McCain seems to be the leading Republican nominee. I was talking to my friend about this the other day and she said that Huckabee really has no chance, and is only staying in the race because he said that he would never drop out, unless he was "forced" to.
That's the update I have, I still want to know what everyone is thinking. . . So don't hesitate to post!!

Obama seems much more like a real person to me. Hilary was a REPUBLICAN back in the day and she was a goldwater girl (sp?). She was against civil rights for women and those of color! (and she's a woman?!) She keeps going back and forth and Obama gets her everytime. Go Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Hilary would be the better one. Right now I just don't believe that Obama has enough experience. Maybe in four years he would be the best choice. Hilary has spent many years in office was a political wife. She knows how to play the game. I agree that Obama is a great inspirational speaker, however it takes more than words. Hilary has a definite plan for what she wants to do. She also has Bill on her side, while I don't agree with his personal life, he was one amazing president. The deficit clock (shows amount of debt as a country we owe to other countries) had to be turned off. We were almost completely out of debt. Bill is also an amazing negotiator.
