I was disapointed. I loved it, but not as great as the first book. Now that James is dead I'm upset he was my favorite hot evil Vampire!

Really? When I finished it, I was extremely angry at Bella for shafting Jacob like that...and Edward was being plain unfair and very selfish. God, Edward ticks me off sometimes. He was so unbreably jealous of Jacob (he still his) and the only thing I can say to that is well, if you didn't want Bella getting so close to Jacob, then why the hell did you leave?!
He may be an arrogant know-it-all, but let's see him answer that! ;D

i agree, i loved twilight...with a mad crazy passion! but new moon, was just...ehh...i dont know, the writing was still as spectacular, but i was DEFINITLY ticked off by bella 'shafting' jacob. i understand iguess, her one true love versus her very best friend who was the single person who helped her recover from when her true love left her...it is a quite the conundrum. i'll admit, i did cry when edward left, i am an emotional person. but i feel like a lot of the story was redundant, i understand that she was trying to get us to understand just how miserable bella is, but there is a difference between subtle hints and hammering it into our brains.

I really enjoyed new moon because you really got to see the characters develop. All the characters actions made sense but unlike waruiusagi and alwayssmile, I was less upset at Bella and more annoyed with Edward and his over-protectiveness of her. Bella didn't really "shaft" Jacob. She did warn him a couple times that she'd never feel the exact same way he may feel about her. Jacob should hve been prepared for when Bella left to stop Edward, but as expected of anyone in love, he wasn't.
Remember that when they got back from Italy, Bella tried desperatly to get in touch with Jacob but Jacob chose to ignore her attempts.
I'm not saying Jake's to blame though. He's totally acting like one his age would and that's okay. Edward spun the universe off it's axis when he left and when he came back he made it spin off into another direction.
bleh...sorry..I chattered a bit...

now that i've read you point of view on the matter, i definitly agree, that makes a lot of sense to me. and dont worry i chatter alot. about watching the chracters develop though, i feel like we just watched them...i dont know, be...stuck...i cant explain, but just bella didnt really do all that much, i feel like she just wallowed.

Very true...she did wallow. A lot. So the book did seem to just sit for a bit...but I think that was the point that was trying to be conveyed.
I guess what I meant in terms of characters developing...maybe more on Edward and Jacob's behalves. Jacob more than the others, because he's growing while Bella is at a stand-still. I think new moon allows more of an insight to Edward's feelings too. Well...at least at the end. But I know what you mean. It felt like it took a while before new moon finally...moved.

Everyone I know who's read it says they didn't like it as much as Twilight but I did. I think the reason why somebody might says it's worse is because Edward was gone for most of it (very depressing, let me tell you) but I really started to love Jacob. I loved the suspense in certain parts of the book, it kept it going when nothing else could. I nearly cried at the end of the book. Gosh, I was disappointed by Jacob's behavior and I was worried about Bella. And now we're pretty much left hanging until August 9.

For me, i kinda liked twilight better.. i dunno.. i guess i'm just a hopeless romantic.. ;D
the issue about bella spurning jacob.. i don't know about u guys but from where i come from, it's best (well, not exactly best, mayb better or recommended) that you shouldn't mistake friendship w/ love bcoz if u do it can cause major damage 2 ur friendship.. nd i think bella made it quite clear that she sees jacob as a friend only.. she's only supporting thoughts of something more btween them bcoz edward hurt her. i think it was better for jacob not to end up with with bella bcoz if he did end up w/bella he will only be a substitute for edward and i think it's worse than being dumped coz who wants to feel as a sort of bandage? i'm asking bcoz that was what jacob would've bcome if he nd bella bcame a couple.. (no offense to jake's fans! justsaying my opinion! ;D) hope what i wrote makes sense to sum1... hehehe ;D)

I think when it comes down to it, everyone's reacting in a way that could be expected from the situations they've found themselves in; Jacob's upset frome being shafted so easily. Bella feels guilty and yet justified all the same because of her choosing Edward over Jacob...and Edward is being his good old masochistic, posessive self because his leaving Bella did more harm then good. He hasn't seen Bella in almost a year and he's jealous, slightly grateful but mostly angry at Jacob for being there for Bella when he wasn't...and to top it all of, they're mortal enemies, so...yeah. Everyone's justified, but at the same time, they're not. It's all so complicated, and that's what I love about. Because no matter how supernatural the story is, this is all about human behavior, and humans make mistakes. That's why I loved New Moon better than Twilight I guess. When it comes to that sort of thing, Twilight seems a little too shallow on the psycological side. ... ...Did that make any sense?

I also think that perhaps there was a much simpler reason everyone didn't like New Moon as much as they liked Twilight. Two, actually. One; after Twilight, I think that, once everyone found out there was a second book about to be released - and because Twilight was so popular - everyone built up these expectations that New Moon would be so great, perhaps even more romantic than Twilight. You know, perhaps it was like the third Spiderman movie - you wait months and months for it to come out, getting more excited with each day that passes because the last two were just so awesome...and then you get there, you watch it...and, after all of that excitement and hype, you find out that it's not exactly what you'd hoped it would be. But then to top it all off in New Moon, (and here's the number two reason - it just made things worse) Edward left. And really, after Twilight, what's the point in reading a story if Edward's not in it? I have to admit, when I found out he was leaving, I was asking myself the same question, (after I stopped crying, that is ) But then suddenly, there was Jacob; a glorious distraction from the pain of Edward's absense - exactly what he was to Bella. Believe me, I was so absolrbed in that book, by the time I was finished with it, I pretty much was Bella. A complete muddle of emotions. Hehe.

That makes sense. No one wanted Edward to leave!

Yes, most of us loved Twilight better than New Moon. Most likely because that's when Edward and Bella fell in love. But I do not believe New Moon sat for a while. The depression age was very, very necessary. We needed to feel it to truly know what Bella's point of view was. It needed to be pummeled in our brains to realize how much she loved Edward. She didn't just toss Jacob aside. It was an emergency. Edward was going to kill himself because he thought she was dead. She loved him. Of course she couldn't bear the thought of her most beloved dying! She did say goodbye to Jacob. She hugged him like she'd never see him again. She was SAD that she had to leave Jacob, but she knew that that was the only way. You have to understand how deep her love is for Edward. How desperate she was to see him again. I mean...she jumped off a cliff to hear is voice again for goodness sakes! Jacob is just her best friend. He means a lot to her, because he can be there when she falls apart. Every woman needs a friend like that. She also couldn't connect well with humans. Jacob is a werewolf. It fits. They need to be best friends. And yes, Edward was a complete IDIOT for leaving Bella. But he thought he was doing the right thing. He wanted her to be happy. He didn't want to hurt her. Of course he'll be jealous of Jacob at times. Bella and Jacob just....click. And Jacob loves her so much...
That was a lot. Sorry. I just got frustrated that you could be mad at any of them! They can't help themselves!

i get your meaning.. it' sort of goes with the saying that "absence makes the heart grow fonder" and the one that goes we can only finally fully appreciate people, feelings, and other stuff when they're already gone..
