I got a good laugh today when a friend of mine sent me the unofficial passport for Cape Breton Island. There was some very...interesting...information in it. Such as page 5:
ENDORSEMENTS AND LIMITATIONS: This unofficial passport is not valid anywhere unless someone allows the bearer admittance without really looking very closely at the unofficial passport of Cape Breton Island. The aforementioned someone will then probably lose his or her job wit the immigration department of the said someone's country.
It is the responsibility or the bearer of the unofficial Cape Breton passport to produce this document whenever there is a lull in conversation.
The unofficial Cape Breton passport in no way entitles the bearer to a job; but can save explanation time at local unemployment offices.
It is considered bad form to be arrested while in possession of an unofficial Cape Breton passport.
And then there were...
TYPICAL CAPE BRETON OBSERVATIONS 1. It's later now than it's ever been. 2. Wherever you go, well, there you are. 3. Go ahead back up. 4. Turn left right here. 5. D'jeet yet? No, d'jou? Naw, t'early t'eat. 6. How's she goin', bye? 7. That's right nice. 8. What's yer fa...ther's name? 9. The only thing ya mix with good rum is spit. 10. I was after calling, but there they were gone. 11. Tanks, Ma, bye. 12. Four draft, Bus, and don't go too far. 13. What's that in Fahrenheit? 14. Some weather we're havin', eh? (This is my favourite) 15. Ya done good! 16. Good, Dear, Good!
Oh yes. It's things like these that make me wish I were from the maritimes.
Oh man, I need a hobby or something.

This is funny yet I'm sure that if I lived in or near there it'd be even funnier. No's 5 and 8 are just hilarious.
This reminds me of the Revocation of Independence issued to the US by England.
I think this may be in the wrong board though. I'm moving it to The Cafeteria.

I'm going there in August. Hmm, I wonder what the locals will do if I try some of the phrases on them...They'll probably kick me off the island ;D

With pleasure. Since I'm flying from New York to Nova Scotia, I'll see if the immigration people at the airport will accept this passport.
On second thought, I don't think that would be the greatest idea. I don't want to get arrested in another country....
