Stephanie Meyer has chosen Robert Pattinson to play Edward. Correction, the casting people of the movie chose Robert Pattinson. Stephenie can suggest actors but she cannot pick them.

Robert Pattinson played Cedric in Harry Potter? That's news to me. . . well I guess I have to go see him again. I hope he can pull off Edward, it would be "not cool" if he messed it up. . .

That picture is not one of his best, but it is the one sent to the site by the casting company and so it was the one put up. Just remember, looks do not reflect acting ability. If he were judged by looks, Johnny Depp would not star in half the movies he does, but he's an excellent actor. All that's important is his acting ability and, with it, be able to convince us he is Edward and own whatever scene he appears in. Looks are hardy conducive to judging any ability, least of all acting.

I thought he made a perfect Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter! We'll have to wait and see if he makes a good Edward
I wonder if he'll have a British accent... *starts to daydream* hehe.. wait. Did he have one as Cedric?

Actually, Robert has a flawless American accent according to what Stephenie posted in her blog. Actualy, most British actors need accent classes anyway to get an accent that everyone on the British Isles can understand. Remember the different dialects and accents? So, Robert pulling off an American one is just part of the job. His intonation may be slightly softer, though, more reminiscent of Edward's early 20th century English. But that's speculation on my part.

Hmmmmm. Softer. That would be cool. At least he looks good as Cedric. He should be able to pull this off.

Took me awhile to get back, but here it is. . . I am now thinking that Robert Pattinson might actually be able to pull the role of Edward off. . . He is a pretty good actor, and while he isn't my ideal Edward I realize now that the likelihood of Summit Entertainment finding my perfect Edward is extremely low. So I am now content with their choice. . . I cannot wait to see him play Edward.
((I was watching an interview and this guy laughs a whole lot! I think it's kind of cute.))

Thats a good thing. We need someone happy to play Edward, especially if he is supposed to be in love.

if you go under the movie tab on stephenie meyer's website, there is an interview with the girl who is going to play Bella. She mentions a different way of Edward telling her that he is a vampire, which would cut the port angeles scene out. *crys
